Obituary of Joseph R Mills

Joseph R. Mills, age 68 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022 at the Westchester medical Ctr., Valhalla, NY. He was born on July 20, 1953 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late George and Florence Turner Mills. Joe worked as a corrections officer for the Orange County Sheriff’s Dept. in Goshen, NY. He was a member of the Delaware Engine Co. #2 and a 50 year member of the Port Jervis Fire Dept. Joe married Deanna Beardsley who pre-deceased him on March 17, 2016. He is survived by his sisters; Linda Murphy and her husband Michael of Sumerduck, Virginia, and Cheryl Fuller of Milford, PA, his two brothers; James Mills and his wife June of Matamoras, and Timothy Mills and his wife Diane of Port Jervis, his sister-in-law Cheryl Galanakis of Port Jervis, several nieces and nephews, including Dennis Hughes. He was pre-deceased by his two brothers; George Mills, Jr.,Thomas Galanakis and his niece Gigi Hughes. Visitation will be held 11 AM-1 Pm, Thursday, March 24, 2022 at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home,154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. Funeral services will follow at 1 PM, Thursday at the funeral home. Rev. Amy Garret will officiate. Interment will follow at Rural Valley Cemetery, Cuddebackville, NY.
