Obituary of Winifred M. Roa

Winifred M. Roa age 99, of Milford, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully, Friday, March 25, at the Milford Health & Rehabilitation Facility, Milford, Pennsylvania. She was born on February 7, 1923 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Roger and Winifred Mele Burcham. Winifred retired as an assembler for Kolmar Labs, Inc, in Port Jervis. She married Armand Roa on August 3, 1941, he pre-deceased her on September 14, 2003. A family statement read, Winifred was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, adored by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She dedicated her life to her family and was affectionately known as “Grandma” to most who knew her. She truly loved her family and friends. If anyone stopped by her home, they were invited in and always offered a hot meal, sweet refreshments and a cup of coffee. Although she witnessed many amazing changes in her 99 years, the most amazing thing to her was that she was blessed with so many family members and friends. She greatly enjoyed the years she spent in Florida, but she and Dad wanted to be home where they could be with their family during their remaing years. Being very social, Winifred never missed an opportunity for a good laugh and a good time. All who knew her, will miss her and the world is truly a better place for her having being here. The Roa family would like to thank the entire staff, both present and former, at the Milford Health and Rehabilitation Facility, for the wonderful care and love that she received during the years she was in their care. Winifred is survived by her two sons; Armand Roa and his wife Katherine of Brookville, Florida, and Richard Roa and his wife Karen of Milford, PA, her daughter-in-law, Judy Roa of Bloomingburg, NY her beloved grandchildren; Alan, Wendy, Donald, Roger and Daren Roa, Tonya Richards, Joann Gillin, Jim Ellison, Jeri Lamb and Joanie Comfort, her 15 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Winifred was pre-deceased by her Son, Roger R. Roa, Sr., her grandson, John Roa and her sister, Thelma Conard. Memorial services will be announced at a later date by the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY.
