Obituary of Andrew J. Zangl

Andrew (Andy) J. Zangl age 67 of Milford, Pennsylvania and formerly of Port Jervis, NY, passed away August 15, 2021 at home surrounded by his loving family. His passing was due to complications of a stroke he suffered in 2017. Andy was born in Port Jervis, NY on December 16, 1953, the son of Andrew M. and Joyce Zangl Baker. He met, and married, Janie Schultz at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas. Both Andy and Janie proudly served in the USAF as Security Police K-9 handlers from 1975-1980. Andy returned to Port Jervis where he worked for C& D Battery Co., Ambassador Glass, Wells Tobacco and Candy Co., and Orange & Rockland Utilities, until his retirement. Andy is survived by his loving and devoted wife Janie of 45 years. He is also survived by his son Andrew Zangl and his companion Amanda, his brothers; Rich Haring and his wife Eileen, Keith Baker and his wife Nancy, his sisters; Joyce Cirulli and her husband Ray, Melinda Hurley and her husband Robert, Melissa Marshall and her husband Ron, his father-in-law, William Schultz, his brothers-in-law, Ken Schultz and his wife Lauri, Jim Schultz and his wife Brenda, Peter Schultz and his wife Bethann, several aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his many “sons”, who will always be remembered as “ a brother from another mother”. Andy was pre-deceased by his father Andrew Zangl, his mother Joyce Baker and her husband Herb, his sisters; Mary Ferguson, Gail Humphrey and his mother-in-law, Lois Schultz. Whether you knew Andy as; Andy Z, or Coach Papa Zangl, he taught all of you with all his heart. His favorite saying was “Live By Example”. Andy’s family would like to extend a special thank you to his team at Residential Home Care and Hospice, Mossic, PA. Their care was exceptional and they provided Andy, as well as Janie, with tremendous support. Graveside services with military honors will be private at he convenience of the family.
