Obituary of James H. Lovelace, Sr.

James H. Lovelace Sr. of Milford, PA, a former resident of Port Jervis, went to be with the Lord on July 16, 2022, at Delaware Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center with his children by his side, He was 84.
He was born on May 25, 1938 in Addison, NY, the son of Frances A. and Clarence L. Lovelace who predeceased him. Jim was a retired Operating Engineer from Local 825.
A family statement read: "Dad was a loving, devoted father, a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and the best grandfather and great-grandfather you could ask for. He was a lover of old and new cars, country music, and getting out of the house whether it be to try a new place to eat, shop, or explore. He loved metal detecting and did so until he was unable to. We love and will miss you dearly."
He is survived by his two sons: James H. Lovelace, Jr. and his husband, Jose Sanchez Fenly, of Milford, PA, with whom he lived; Jeffrey H. Lovelace and his wife, Tina, of Concord, NC: three daughters: Jamie Talmadge and her husband, Brian, of Port Jervis, NY; Tanya Behen and her husband, John, of Hampton, VA; Cheryl Lovelace of Port Jervis, NY; his sister, Rose Ann Arace of Windermere, FL; brother Paul Lovelace and his wife, Joo Yung, of Indiana; grandchildren: Kelsey, Isabella, and Parker Talmadge; Sarah Brett, Ariella Samuel, and Rowan Behen; Ashleigh, Allison, and Justin Russell; great grandchildren: Cameron and Olivia; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Max and Sophia, whom he loved dearly. He was predeceased by his brothers: Doug, Gerald, Basil, Jack, Ernest, Lloyd, and Clarence; sisters: Gail and Shirley.
The family would like to thank Prestige Home Care including Tracey, Rochelle, and Dee for providing great companionship and care for our dad; the staff at St. Joseph's Place, especially Regina and Tina; the staff at Delaware Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their compassion during his passing.
Memorial Visitation Sunday July 24, 2022 from 10AM to 12:00 PM at Knight- Auchmoody Funeral Home 154 East Main Street Port Jervis, NY. Memorial Service 12:00PM at the Funeral Home, the Rev. D. Mason Whitley III will officiate. Inurnment to follow Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrow Bush NY.
