Obituary of Daniel J. Pflanz, Sr.

Daniel J. Pflanz, Sr. age 72 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at home, surrounded by his loving family. Daniel was born on September 30, 1948 in Port Jervis, NY, the son of the late Charles and Catherine Mead Pflanz. Dan retired as a custodian for the Port Jervis School District after many years of dedicated service. In his earlier years he worked for the Happ Candy Co. in Port Jervis and Great American Grocery Store. He was a 55 year life member of the Delaware Engine Co. #2, Port Jervis Fire Dept., a former member of the Port Jervis Vol. Ambulance Corps, a former member of the Beaver Dam Hunting Club and a former Cub Scout Leader (Weblos), Pack #173, Port Jervis. Dan was an avid hunter. He enjoyed the great outdoors, especially camping with his family and friends. Daniel married Diane Edwards, who survives at home, on August 27, 1966, celebrating 55 years of marriage. He is also survived by his son, Michael Pflanz and his wife Sarah of Matamoras, PA, his daughters; Deborah Pflanz of Huguenot, Michele VanHorn and her husband William of Honesdale, PA, and Heather Moore and her husband David, Jr. of Port Jervis, his brothers; Gerald Pflanz and his wife Carol of Milford, PA, Richard Pflanz and his wife Sheila of Eldred, NY, Charles E. Pflanz of Barryville, his beloved grandchildren; Katlin Cron and her fiancé, Nicholas DiMarsico, Kendra Reed and her husband Brian, Brianna Moore, Aaron VanHorn, David Moore, Mackenzie Moore, Cody VanHorn, Daniel Pflanz, Rachel Pflanz, several nieces and nephews. Daniel was pre-deceased by his son, Daniel J. Pflanz, Jr., his grandson, Charles Pflanz, his sister, Pamela Jean Pflanz and his niece, Clarissa Pflanz. Visitation will be held 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Tuesday, September 14, at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St, Port Jervis, NY. Firematic services will be held 7PM, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, Sept. 15, at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home. Rev. Diane Sommers will officiate. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.
