Rita and I offer our heartfelt condolences to Jo Ann and the family. I grew up with Joe in the 6th Ward of Allentown. We shared good times at the Boy's Club, Riverfront park, and a few beers and pizza after playing basketball at the club. We carpooled to Kutztown State College and shared a bond with the rest of our gang who rode together. We worked Christmas holidays at Zollinger Harned on Hamilton St. and had fun working in the toy department. I knew Joe's mother and father plus the girls. I am only sorry Rita and I never got to come up for lunch as we planned...covid got in the way. Joe was a great friend, a great Irishman, and a wonderful guy. I know he is now reminiscing with many of the guys who have gone before us. May God Bless him and take care of him. Hank Annoni

During Joe's tenure as Social Studies Department Chairman (1984-99) the two of us were officemates. We shared/discussed many varied topics over these fifteen years, from societal and educational changes to raising children and Notre Dame football. Joe was fiercely proud of being Irish, a union member, and especially a good husband, Dad and grandpa to his family. During all this time, I never heard Joe swear or speak negatively about someone behind their back. It was Joe's character and professionalism that made him uniquely and universally respected by administrators, fellow teachers and students alike. How he lived his life mattered, and he will be missed by those who knew him.
