My deepest condolences to the Hunt families!!
Some of my favorite memories of my teen yrs were centered on the marvels of Mickey Hunts abilities to always make things happen in our ltl town….. watching him and his boys construct new buildings was always a marvel to me…. 1st the HUNT bldg n then the BEST WESTERN…. My friends (Mike jr n David Farace)worked hard under him but he was fair and taught them so many of life's lessons
i never heard anyone say a bad word bout Mickey…i will forever remember his great big smile when he would tell
Me how the space btw Matamoras and milford would one day be filled w stores….. all those areas were my horseback riding trails n he used to tell me to enjoy it while it was pristine lands…. What foresight he always had….
My heart aches for the way he died but part of me rejoices that he was doing what he loved and even better yet he was w his lifelong friend n together they are back in that boat.. eternally
RIP MICKEY n Dick…..

I had the privilege to work for Hunt Construction, Inc. for two summers during my formative years in high school — 1975 and 1976. I was an impressionable boy with an interest in construction. The work was physically challenging and the boss had high standards. As the new kid on the job, I suffered the ridicule of an older, experienced crew. But that only motivated me to work harder to fit in. When Mike and Dick invited me to join their 4 man crew constructing a recreation center in Lake Como, PA the second summer, I felt honored to be part of a special team. We spent the summer there working long days on the job site and short nights living together in a nearby cottage — four decades later it remains one of my fondest memories. I learned a lot about construction, management, business, leadership, and life that summer. At the end of August, football camp and senior year were beckoning; but Mickey said there would be a job waiting for me upon graduation. A few months later, Mickey would write me a letter of recommendation that I treasure to this day. I went on to study Civil Engineering at West Point (and later earn a master’s degree in CE at NC State Univ) and lead large design and construction projects for the Department of Defense, but the foundation of my construction career was laid under the tutelage of Mickey Hunt. Nothing but gratitude, respect and admiration for that man. RIP. Prayers and blessings for his beautiful family. David Farace, Lt Col, US Army, retired; Colorado Springs, Colorado
