Family statement by her son Bruce Porter:
Our Mother Vera Thibodeau Porter Hawkins Passed Away Yesterday Afternoon Peacefully In Her Sleep… Vera Was Definitely a member of the Grand Dame era. An enigma in her own “Vera” way, who packed what seemed like 250 years of living in 99 1/4 years of reality.. She meant a lot to everyone in her family as the oldest of 10 siblings, Mother to 5 Children, Gram to 12 grandchildren & great grandchildren, Aunt to countless nieces, nephews and everyone she met over the years. She will live on in all of us that she touched.. Our memories of her cooking in the kitchen and sitting by the campfire at Big Pond with a “cocktail” in hand will last thru eternity. She is at peace now and will be joining her beloved Bill Hawkins, Frederick Michael Porter, Michael Salamon, Ned And Blanche Thibodeau her predeceased siblings and many family and friends..
She will be missed..
Beloved mother of Patricia Koehn, Nancy Porter, Bruce Porter and Gerald Porter Jr. all of Port Jervis. Dear sister of Lawrence Thibodeau, Kathryn Gauthier and Sharon Libby.
At Vera’s request donations may be made to either the Laurel Grove Cemetery Association or the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark.
A private cremation will take place as Vera wished.
