Obituary of Richard Joseph DeGraw, Sr.

Richard (Dick) Joseph DeGraw, Sr, age 90 of Port Jervis, NY passed away Wednesday, October 13th, 2021 in Westfall Township, Pa. Richard was a very beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, lovingly referred to as Papa. He was born on June 9th, 1931 in Port Jervis, the son of Ada and Harry DeGraw from Port Jervis, NY. Richard proudly served our country with the US Army. Richard and his late wife, Diana were faithful members of the Deerpark Reformed Church, Port Jervis. When they were small, his grandchildren each loved to be on Papa’s lap while he rocked them to sleep in his chair. In later years he was rarely seen without his camcorder always ready to record memories with his beloved family and wife. He was always known as the camera man, eager to catch every moment spent with his family on film. Richard is predeceased by his wife, Diana. He married Diana Caliciotti on August 7, 1955 and celebrated 60 years of marriage. Richard is survived by his two sons: Richard J. DeGraw, Jr. and his wife, Tara, of Sparrowbush, NY and Brian DeGraw and his wife, Linda of Taylorsville, NC; eight grandchildren: Trish Tigue and her husband, Brian, Sheri Veazey and her husband Ken, Rosanne Adams and her husband, John, Anthony DeGraw, Meghan Cummis and her husband, Jeffrey, Brian Matthew DeGraw, Marah Berry and her husband Spencer, and Lili DeGraw; four great grandchildren: Evan, Kira, Gianna, and McKenzie and several nieces and nephews. Richard was pre-deceased by his two brothers, Robert and Harold DeGraw and his sister, Rita Maney. There will be no visitation, and a private burial graveside service will be held.
