Obituary of William F. Vernooy

William F. Vernooy of Matamoras died on September 6, 2023 at Westchester Medical Center.  He was 75.  

The son of the late William B. & Eleanor (née Cleary) Vernooy, he was born on December 12, 1947 in Port Jervis, NY. 

Bill proudly served with the US Navy and upon his honorable discharge enlisted in the US Navy Reserves for many years.  He was a longtime member of the VFW and more recently with VFW Post 161.  Bill was retired from Integral Marketing acting as a sales associate, providing high speed recorders to the US Goverment.   He was an avid sportsman with a special interest in fly fishing.  

In addition to his parents Bill was predeceased in life by his wife wife Carol Vernooy. 

Father of Daniel & Dawn.  Brother of David J. Vernooy with his wife Joan.  Uncle of Bradford Vernooy with his wife Jessica and Danielle Vernooy.  Great Uncle to Morgan & Brynn. 

A memorial visitation will take place on Friday 9/15 from 2 to 5:00PM at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home 154 East Main Street, Port Jervis NY 12771.  Navy Honors will be rendered at 4:30PM followed by a prayer service.  Following the service a private inurnment will take place at St. John's Cemetery, Frederick Maryland.
