Obituary of David E. Wrisley

David Edward Wrisley, age 74, of Port Jervis, New York passed away peacefully at home on December 2, 2023. David was born on August 10,1949 , in Port Jervis, NY; the son of the late Earl Douglas Wrisley and Ellen Louise Rathburn Wrisley.

David proudly enlisted in the United States Army in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1971. He enjoyed music, concerts at Bethel Woods, rooting for his football team-the Chargers and spending time supporting and sharing his sober journey with his group members whom he loved deeply. He just celebrated over 20 years of sobriety this past September.

David spent his final years with his life partner Christa Irwin, who suddenly passed away in September of 2023. 

David is survived by his brother Douglas E Wrisley of Vernon NY, his Nephew Kevin Craft and his wife Tamara Craft of Milford PA, his Niece Ann Craft-Ward and her Husband Darryl Ward of Cuddebackville NY, his Niece Michelle Wrisley Pittman of Vernon NY and Steven Wrisley of Fairfield, Ohio. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews, Ashlee & Chris Wood & Tanner Ward, Karissa & Kurt McLean, Alex Craft & Kaylee Craft, Colin Pittman , Jeanna Pittman, Paul Pittman, Derek,Ashley & Brandon Wrisley , Landon & Grayson Wood & Colton McLean. In addition, he was also survived by the extended family of Christa’s children who continued to help him after her passing and her grandchildren, whom he adored. 

Cremation was held at MacLennan Hall Crematorium.  Burial will take place in the family plot in Laurel Grove Cemetery in the spring of 2024 with Military Honors.

Donations may be to made to St. Jude’s, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Red Cross, and the Deerpark Humane Society in David’s memory.
