Obituary of Barbara Ann Abbadusky

Barbara Ann Abbadusky, a resident of Matamoras, PA, passed away on January 7, 2024 at Delaware Valley Skilled Nursing in Matamoras. She was 84.

 

The daughter of the late Pauline (Minnie) and Malcolm F. Robinson, Sr., she was born on August 10, 1939 in Lynchburg, VA, and grew up and spent most of her life in Norfolk.

 

Barbara passed into the loving arms of her Savior Jesus Christ peacefully after a long illness. She was deeply loved by her four children and their families, as well as her extended family and friends.

 

Barbara was most at home in sunny Virginia where she grew up. She worked for many years until her retirement at the Virginian Pilot Ledger Star Newspaper in Norfolk, VA. In the last several years, she came to live near her daughters in New York, where they were able to spend more time with her, and where Barbara also enjoyed frequent visits by her sons. Her children are grateful for the loving mother she was and will always cherish their special memories with her. She loved talking about her family, family history, and digging into her families’ ancestry.

 

Over the years she enjoyed bowling in various leagues with her friends. She loved oysters and her daughters were thankful that they found places in NY to get her favorite food for her. A favorite pastime of hers was teaching her children and traveling with them to visit many historical places in Virginia. Of course, Busch Gardens and the beach were also favorites. Barbara loved introducing her children to their extended large family out in “the country” of Virginia, and spending time with her brother, Sonny, deep sea fishing in the Chesapeake Bay. She held within her a quietness of deep love and wisdom that came to her children whenever they were with her.

 

Cherished Mother of Arthur (Skip) Abbadusky and his wife Lisa of Aiken, South Carolina; Karen Savacool and husband Eric of Glen Spey, NY; Danny Abbadusky and wife Diane, of Elverson, PA; and Kathryn Gallagher and husband Kevin of Greenville, NY. Devoted Grandmother to 13 Grandchildren: Aaron, Adam, Frances, Bethany, Marc, Matthew, Danielle, Kristyn, Jonathan, David, Halley, Alex, Brooke; and 9 Great-Grandchildren, with one on the way. Dear Sister to Malcolm F. “Sonny” Robinson, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Virginia Beach, VA. She will be dearly missed by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

 

The family would like to give a heartfelt “Thank You” to all of her caregivers over the past several years for the tender, loving care they provided for her. She appreciated each one of you. Please share any special remembrances that you have of the time you had with her.

 

Services are private at this time, and a Memorial Service will be announced in the Spring.  As per her wishes, she will buried at Scottsville Cemetery in Scottsville, VA next to her mother and father.
