William Arthur Sutton Sr. of Port Jervis, New York, passed away Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Covenant HealthCare of Saginaw.
William was born November 24, 1927, in Port Jervis, NY, to the late Scott and Leona (Ayers) Sutton. A proud US Air Force Veteran, William served his country during the Korean War and spent time in Japan and Okinawa. After his military service, he joined the Erie Railroad before starting a long career with the Orange County Health Department, where he dedicated 21 years of service until his retirement in 1990.
William was a devoted husband to his wife, Barbara Jean Sutton (nee Cooper), with whom he shared many cherished memories during their 75 years together. William was a beloved father of three children and Papa of eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was an active member of the community, involved in organizations such as the Deerpark Reformed Church, Port Jervis Free Masons Lodge 328 (63 years), Wallkill Masonic Lodge 627, and the Port Jervis Eastern Stars. William was also a skilled amateur radio operator, fisherman, artist, woodworker and a proud member of the NRA.
Surviving are: Loving wife, Barbara Jean Sutton; Children: Dawn Rene Sutton, Lori Jean Sutton / Steve Abaid, and William A (Sherron) Sutton Jr; 8 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren.
