Obituary of Sharon C. Aeberli
Please share a memory of Sharon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sharon C. Aeberli, born December 16, 1942 in Milford, CT, passed away in Cape May, NJ on September 17, 2024. She was 81 years old.
Sharon was a beloved member of the Montague, NJ community and devoted her time giving back, often taking leadership positions in non-profit organizations across Sussex County. She proudly served as Treasurer of the Montague Flower Club, an officer at the Montague Grange, a docent at the Foster-Armstrong House and Museum, and was an active volunteer at the Montague Senior Citizens Club and the Montague Historical Society.
When she wasn’t serving her community, Sharon could be found tending to her beautiful house, flower beds and gardens. She took great pride in building a warm home for all family and friends, regularly hosting holidays, parties and weekly card games over breakfast (she insisted that she did not cheat, but somehow always won!) Sharon was creative and talented; she had a knack for decoration, cross stitch and antiquing, and every project she touched was left better than when she found it.
Sharon was the center of her family’s universe. She lit up every room she walked into, and had an infectious laugh you couldn’t help but catch. Her warmth, kindness and love will be sorely missed.
Sharon is survived by her husband of 61 years, Arthur M. Aeberli, her children and their spouses, Arthur J. and Michelle Aeberli, Jill and Kelly Decker, and Janine Begasse, her grandchildren Lauren, Daniel, James, Mackenzie, Kelsey, Aeberli, Conner, AJ, Jack and Andrew, and her great-grandson Grant. She is preceded in death by her parents James Furman and Winifred McElroy.
A celebration of Sharon’s life will take place on October 12, 2024 from 1 to 4:00PM at the Montague Grange 280 River Rd, Montague, NJ 07827
Cremation took place at MacLennan Hall Crematorium, Milford.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Montague Grange or the Montague Historical Society, two non-profit organizations close to Sharon’s heart and that filled her life with community and joy.
Please make use of the Tribute Wall by leaving a memory or condolence for the family.
