James (Jim) Stewart, 83 of Milford, PA, passed away peacefully on Christmas Day. Born in Englewood, NJ, to the late Willis Stewart and Florence (Day) Stewart, he was a devoted father and educator, who touched the lives of all who knew him.
A quiet man with a great sense of humor, Jim had a gentle way of bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. He served his country as a veteran of the Vietnam War, carrying the values of dedication and service throughout his life.
Jim was a loving father who raised five children alongside his late wife Jane Stewart of Milford, PA. His greatest joy was his family, and his guidance and warmth will be dearly missed.
For 35 years, he served as a physical education teacher at Lawrence Intermediate School in Lawrenceville, NJ. Passionate about teaching, he inspired countless students with his commitment to fitness, teamwork, and integrity.
Jim will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his quiet strength, and his ability to find humor even in life’s challenges. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and joy that will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
He is survived by his five children: Eric (Becky), Brian, Chad (Janel), Michael (April), and Holly Worden (Bill). He is also survived by ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way! Brother to David Stewart (Barbara).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Stewart and Florence Day Stewart, wife Jane, and his sister Phyllis (Stewart) Farrington.
Visitation will be held Saturday December 28th 10AM to 12Noon at the Knight-Auchmoody Funeral Home, 154 E. Main St., Port Jervis, NY. A Funeral Service will take place at 12Noon at the Funeral Home, Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY.
