Nathan Coe Durland,Jr. age 87, of Sparrowbush, NY passed away November 11, 2021 in Port Jervis, NY. He was born on April 23, 1934 in Port Jervis, the son of the late Nathan Coe Durland, Sr. and Elizabeth Blanchard Durland. He spent all of his life in Rio, NY. After graduating from Port Jervis High School with the class of 1951, he briefly attended Morrisville College. He joined the US Army and proudly served our country from 1957-1958. Coe was a foreman for the New York State Dept. of Transportation and retired in 1989 after 37 years of dedicated service. Coe was a good friend and great father. As a young man he enjoyed working on his race car #19 and traveling the circuit of tracks in Sullivan County. He was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt and enjoyed being in the woods. Coe enjoyed restoring antique tractors, watching races, snowmobiling and camping. He was an active member of T.O.Y.s., (Tractors of Yesteryears). He enjoyed the Otisville Country Fair and participated in the tractor pulls with his wife Lottie. Coe and Lottie loved traveling throughout the US in their 5th Wheel RV. Later in life his joys were simple: A good manhattan, spending time with all of his children at home, a tractor to tinker with, feeding his birds and fresh flowers on the table. Coe married Lottie Henn Durland on January 24, 1975 and celebrated 46 years of marriage. He is survived by his wife Lottie at home, his son, Bud Durland and his wife Tammy, his daughter, Carol Flynn and her husband Gary, his daughter, Sharon Cornell and his son Jay Pinkala and his wife Dina, his sister, Tootie Knibbs and her husband Jake, his 10 beloved grandchildren; Tara, Shannon, Kevin, Staci, Nathan, Steven, Rachel, Hailey, Kylie and Colin, his great grandchildren; Laela, Orrin and Faris, and several nieces and nephews. Coe was predeceased by his sister Cathy Frey and her husband Bill and his brother Jim Durland. Graveside services will be held 1 PM, Friday, November 19, at Pine Hill Cemetery, Sparrowbush, NY. Rev. Nancy Vonderhorst will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Port Jervis-Deerpark Humane Society, Route 209, Port Jervis, NY 12771 or to the Pond Eddy United Methodist Church, 122 Berm Church Rd. Pond Eddy, NY 12770.
