Obituary of H. Robert Eccleston

H. Robert Eccleston "Bob" a lifetime resident of Port Jervis died May 13, 2023 at home, with his wife by his side.  He was 87. 

The son of Harold & Charlotte Eccleston, he was born April 4, 1936 in Port Jervis.  

Bob was a Professor of Business having taught at Sullivan County Community College for over thirty years.  He served the City of Port Jervis as a Councilman and then would be elected Mayor from 1972 to 1977.  Former Chairman of the Port Jervis Republican Committee.  Life Member of the Port Jervis Elks, Lodge #645.  

Beloved husband of 65 years to Patricia Eccleston at home.  Dear brother of Shirley Tschudy of Matamoras.  Brother in law of Barbara Walters with her husband Zeno of Port Jervis.  In addition to his parents Bob was predeceased by several furry children leaving 1 to survive him at home.  

A funeral service will be held 11:30AM Tuesday May 16th at the Drew United Methodist Church, Port Jervis.  Following the service a private cremation will take place.  He will be interred in the family plot in Laurel Grove Cemetery, Port Jervis. 

Donations may be made to the Deerpark Humane Society or the Drew United Methodist Church in Bob's memory.
