Sherry and I met in 1984 and became best friends almost immediately. She was smart, so talented and so much fun to be with. Katie & Jack and Missy & Mike grew up together. So many good times with the YAGs and working at the Gazette. I will miss her!

Sherry was one of the kindest person I’ve met. Always seemed more concerned about me than herself. Rest in peace.

Dear Sherry's family, There is so much I could write about my friend, Sherry. First she was one of the most talented, heartfelt writers I have know, right up there with Mike Levine, Janis Osborne, Chris Farlekas, Ina Case, Dan Dwyer. When I left the Gazette after Janis died, Sherry waited until she was able to reach out to invite me to come back and then called me. I worked with her until she left, and then I continued there until The Gazette production ended. I later was able to invite Sherry to write for the blog Charlene Lehn and I started, and although no pay was involved -- only a love for sharing news and photos in a community we all loved -- she started writing again and contributed great stories regularly. I loved that! She had caught me one day and had asked prior to that if we wanted to start something like that together. That didn't happen, but we still came together through portjervisnewsroom blog. One article that I treasure of the many Sherry wrote for The Gazette was one she went to Rio to cover, my mom the Angel Artist. I'm attaching it because to me it's a so heartfelt and captured the story in a way Sherry always did -- the heart of the story and the person. Sherry will be so missed and remembered with love by many, myself completely included. Sending sympathy and caring, Sharon & Stan Siegel

We knew Sherry and Don when they lived in the Kittanning area. They rented from us and than my husband and his brother Rob built their house. They were so proud of. Katie was just a little girl and I don’t remember much about jack. Sorry. A beautiful family. We have lost contact through the years. Her accomplishment made me feel proud and happy for her.
All of her family have my deepest sympathy Olivia (Lib) and Martin (Luke) Erdley. Kittanning Pa

So sorry to hear this news. Sherry was such a special person. She was multi-talented, compassionate, funny, and had a way of being able to brighten up a room (just like her Mom & Dad). Such an all around wonderful person who will be missed by many.

Having had the privelege of knowing and working with Sherry over many years, I knew her to be a champion of young people, donating her considerable talents year after year for our Tri-State Spelling Bee. She was kind, dedicated, thorough, and blessed with an unfailing sense of humor. I treasure her memory.

I am very sorry to hear of this. I worked with Sherry first as a bus driver for Campbell Bus Service and then she came to work for me in the composing room of the Gazette - setting display advertising - and causing misc. trouble - like being part of the group that purchased a display memorial ad for an opossum that was shot by the animal enforcement officer or for sending a fax to the radio station with a picture of a dog on it, demanding that we be given office of the day or the dog would get it. Rest in peace.
