Obituary of Russell J. Amore
Please share a memory of Russell to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Russell Jack Amore passed away on December 5, 2023, at home with Patricia, his wife of 71 years, at his side. He was 92.
A native of Rochester NY. He was born on February 15, 1931 to the late Angelo Amore of Sicily and Elizabeth Wright Amore of Chicago, IL.
Russell attended Elementary #14 school in Rochester, NY and Edison Tech before enlisting in the US Navy at 15 years old. He served the US Navy with pride from 1947-1950 and after was a lifelong member of the VFW.
Russell was immensely proud of his family, and would take every opportunity to remind them that he was the one who "started it all." He was respected and loved by his family, friends, neighbors, and the many communities he forced himself into during his 92 years. He was a gifted storyteller and master debater, whose rendition of the Streets of Laredo is a family famous lullaby. He will be missed at the card table, the barstool, the barber's chair, the comfy recliner, and the dinner table (but not in the passenger seat).
He is survived by his children Tom Amore, John Amore, Toni (John) Re, and Nancy Amore, as well as Michelle, Sherry, Stan and Lisa, his children of the heart. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Anthony, Scott, Gina, Carmella, Jason, David, Genny, Alli, Russell, Stosh and Kyle, as well as an army of great-grandchildren: Rory, Max, Kayla, Maggie, Dylan, Sebastian, Luca, Julian, Giana, Angelo, Georgia, Gabriel and Gavin.
In addition to his parents Russell was predeceased in life by his 4 siblings.
There will be a private interment at the family's convenience in Rochester, NY next summer. Cremation to be held at MacLennan Hall Crematorium, Milford.
The family is requesting that any wishes to support be in the form of donations to St. Jude's.
