Obituary of James M. Hendry Jr.

James M. Hendry Jr.,  of Port Jervis, NY, passed away on May 19, 2024. He was 75.  

He was born in Port Jervis, and raised in “The Acre”.  The son of the late James M. Hendry Sr and Julia Pelinski. He was retired from Local Labors #17 and formerly was a cook in many Port Jervis establishments over the years, but the Homer's Crew had a special place in his heart. 

 He was a long time member of the Port Jervis Elks Lodge where he likewise made a lasting impression and cooked for numerous events.

Jim is survived by his wife of 52 years Virginia (Fuller) and two sons: Hon. James M. Hendry III and wife Sarah, Mark Hendry P.E. and his wife Carly, and six grandchildren; Olive, Charlie, Alice, Harrison, Kinsley and Simmons. He is further survived by brother-in-law George Fuller of Newman, GA, his wife Barbara and their family, and several Cousins from the Pelinski Family. 

A Family Statement reads, "it has been a journey but we are left with so many special, loving memories which remain in our hearts forever."

A graveside service will take place at 11:45AM on Thursday May 23rd at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Main Street Port Jervis.  

Memorial contributons may be made to the Port Jervis Humane Society, 202 Us Route 209, Port Jervis, NY 12771.
